Sean Swarner faced his first deadly cancer diagnosis at just 13. The following years included a 14-day life prognosis and a year-long, medically-induced coma, but he beat it and a second, separate cancer that followed.
It seems Swarner has a knack for the inhuman because he and his one functioning lung have completed a series of feats no other human has before. As of 2017, he has highpointed all seven continents, skied to the North and South poles, and completed the Hawaii Ironman.
For Swarner, each expedition is a way to inspire people worldwide. True North: The Sean Swarner Story documents the North Pole leg of his journey to urge everyone to live a life full of hope and resilience, no matter the odds.
The film is playing across the country now on PBS.
